Moses Usor scored on his Super Eagles debut to give Nigeria a 2-1 victory over Madagascar in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying opener in Uyo on Friday, reports said.
The 24-year-old LASK winger came off the bench in the 61st minute for Samuel Chukwueze and completed the turnaround four minutes later with a composed finish to put the Super Eagles ahead, according to Complete Sports and Daily Post.
Madagascar opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Kari Eshan, before George Ilenikhena levelled for Nigeria just before half time, the reports said.
Usor posted about the moment on his Instagram account, thanking staff, teammates and supporters. He wrote, “What a moment! Grateful for my scoring debut and for the trust and support from the coaching staff, my teammates, and the fans. This one means a lot!” Complete Sports published the quote.
The Confederation of African Football praised Usor’s strike on X, calling it “A one-man show from Moses Usor, finished in style on Nigeria’s road through the #TotalEnergiesAFCON2027 qualifiers. 🇳🇬⚡️” Complete Sports reported the CAF post.
One report described the goal as the winger receiving the ball in his own half, running to the left wing, beating two markers inside the box and then striking low with his left foot to score, Complete Sports said.
Complete Sports added that Usor will aim to carry that form into Nigeria’s next qualifier against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, September 29. The match details were reported by Complete Sports.
