The Oyo State Police Command said it has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of 38-year-old Nathaniel Peter at Layeri Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, in Oriire Local Government Area.
The arrests were announced in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade. The suspects are named as Muhammadu Abubakar and Jayun Danali, the statement said, and they are in police custody assisting investigators.
Police preliminary findings said three armed men entered Peter’s room and abducted him on the morning of 24 September 2026. The assailants then fled through the National Reserve Forest, reportedly taking a Hajue motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone. The incident was reported to police that day at about 1750 hours by a resident of the community, the statement added.
According to the police, operatives moved quickly after receiving the report and began a preliminary assessment and investigation at the scene. The command said the arrests have provided useful investigative leads toward identifying and apprehending other persons connected with the incident.
The police also said, in the statement, that it was working with other security agencies and had intensified coordinated operations aimed at securing the safe rescue of the victim and apprehending fleeing members of the criminal gang. The command urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly share credible information with the police as investigations continue.
