The Nigeria Union of Journalists Ogun State Council on Tuesday, inaugurated a new chapel, ‘Ogun East Independent Chapel’.
Inaugurating the new chapel in Ijebu Ode, the chairman of NUJ, Ogun State Council, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju admonished the new chapel to guide against any act or conduct that would bring disrepute to the profession but should rather operate in accordance with the Constitution of NUJ.
He Commended the entire members of the Union from Ogun East for their doggedness and commitment for the advancement of NUJ in the State saying that the creation of the Chapel was long overdue and calling on the entire members of the newly inaugurated Chapel to advance the cause of the profession in the state.
Comrade Olanrewaju confirmed that the chapel met the necessary criteria for it to stand as a chapel.
Earlier, while delivering a lecture to mark the inauguration, a Professor of Sociology, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Professor Olatunde Bright called in Journalists to perform their roles as the watchdog of the Society with utmost honesty and dedication.
He said as Journalists, they must have good character and integrity as the society will judge them for their words and actions.
The peak of the induction was the investiture of Chief Laraba Shoda as the Matron of the Chapel.
Performing the induction, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju thanked Dr Shoda for her dedication to humanity and the acceptance to be the Matron of the Chapel.
In her acceptance speech, Dr Laraba Shoda thanked the Ogun East Independent Chapel of Ogun NUJ for finding her worthy to be inducted as the Matron of the chapel. She pledged commitment and constant advised at all times.
