The world football governing body on Thursday released a list of cities to host the 2026 World Cup with the site of Nigeria’s 1996 Olympics success also a part of them
The Dream Team picked up a Gold medal at the Atlanta 96 Olympics defeating Brazil and Argentina to arguably the greatest global feat in Nigeria’s football history.
With the Super Eagles’ absence at the 2022, World Cup confirmed after missing out on the ticket to Ghana, the focus is on the next World Cup in four years’ time.

The United States, Mexico and Canada will come together to host North America’s first World Cup since 1994.
Sixteen host cities have been selected and eleven of them are in the United States. Venue of the 1996 Olympics, Atlanta is also one of the cities to host the World Cup.
Other cities selected are; Boston, Dallas, Guadalajara, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Monterrey, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Canadian cities, Toronto and Vancouver.
The 2026 World Cup will see 48 teams compete for places and 9 of them will come from Africa from the usual 5.
