The Nigerian Navy has opened recruitment for the 2026 Batch 39 of its Basic Training School, with online applications set to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, the service said in its recruitment guideline.
According to the guideline posted on the Navy’s official X account and reported by national newspapers, the exercise is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who possess a National Identification Number, and who meet the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical requirements.
The Navy said applicants must be medically, physically and psychologically fit and must have no previous criminal conviction. Minimum height requirements are 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females. Candidates with O’Level qualifications must be between 18 and 22 years of age as of December 31, 2026, and have at least five credits including Mathematics and English Language in not more than two sittings.
The guideline makes provision for other categories of candidates, including those with OND and NCE certificates, tradesmen, applicants in medical-related professions and sportsmen and sportswomen, setting specific age and qualification requirements for those groups.
Prospective applicants are required to complete the online form on the Navy’s recruitment portal. After completion, the Navy directed candidates to print their acknowledgement slip, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation and guarantor’s certification forms. The service said dates and venues for the recruitment examination will be communicated to applicants in due course.
The Navy warned that the recruitment process is free and cautioned applicants against paying any individual who claims to facilitate recruitment. The guideline states, “Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise.” It also said multiple online applications would lead to disqualification, adding, “Only a single valid application is permitted, multiple online applications shall be disqualified.”
Finally, the service advised that applicants must be able to communicate in basic English, warning that inability to do so could result in disqualification at any stage. Interested Nigerians were directed to the Navy’s official recruitment portal for further details when the application window opens on October 2.
