As the second term of Governor Dapo Abiodun winds up and the successor’s race gathers momentum, there has been an unfolding political drama between the Governor and the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Olamilekan Adeola popularly called YAYI who is a leading contender for the exalted seat at Oke-Mosan.
Watchers of the political development within the All Progressives Congress in the state attribute it to the usual politics of “succession plan” of the sitting governor where there is always a clash of interest between the governor and the gladiators….a scenero that makes Ogun State a peculiar state.
Some political jobbers argue that Governor Dapo Abiodun is annoyed with YAYI because of his rising and growing popularity in the party and the state at large not knowing that YAYI’s act of benovelence and connection with the members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State have really helped in keeping the party alive.
People are saying PDA and YAYI were at loggerheads over YAYI’s governorship ambition which PDA is not in support of but the untold truth of their perceived feud is that PDA is intentionally and strategically acting in a manner that will make people believe he doesn’t have the endorsement of YAYI’s candidature so as to avoid the “slip on banana peel” that his predecessors (OGD & Amosun) experienced while scheming to impose their successors.
Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Olamilekan Adeola YAYI have longtime formed a synergy. They are both working together to create something greater than what the former governors couldn’t achieve. The only language the people of Ogun State speak now is YAYI and PDA speaks no other language than YAYI.
