In every emerging leader\u2019s journey, there comes a defining moment \u2014 one must align with a cause greater than oneself. It is a natural progression in leadership, shaped by experience, foresight, and a deep understanding of evolving political realities. For me, that moment has come. The decision to align with *Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, FCA* (popularly known as Yayi) and his gubernatorial ambition represents not just a personal or political shift, but a strategic and thoughtful response to the current direction of our political climate in Ogun State as we look ahead to 2027.<\/p>\n
This move did not happen in isolation. It results from broad consultations and growing calls from respected political leaders, associates, grassroots mobilizers, and opinion shapers \u2014 particularly among my afeniferes and other progressive people. The demand is clear: a new political alignment is necessary as we approach a pivotal juncture in Ogun State\u2019s democratic evolution.<\/p>\n
Let me make this absolutely clear \u2014 my alignment with Senator Yayi\u2019s gubernatorial project does not represent a departure from my longstanding political commitment. For over two decades, I have remained steadfast in my belief in the Ogun West agenda \u2014 the deeply rooted aspiration to see someone from that senatorial district occupy the governorship seat. It is a cause we have championed with conviction, and it remains close to our hearts.<\/p>\n
Historically, the pursuit of this goal has defined several election cycles. From 2011 to 2015 and again in 2019, the Ogun West governorship aspiration has been central to our political engagement. Each attempt, while not culminating in final victory, has kept the dream alive. Today, more than ever, that dream remains valid, and the struggle continues. In fact, we are now witnessing a reawakening of that pursuit \u2014 an energised movement ready to consolidate past efforts into a winning strategy for the future.<\/p>\n
Despite my heritage as an Ijebu man, I have consistently positioned myself as a strong and vocal supporter of the Ogun West cause. I have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with my brothers and sisters from that region to pursue justice and equity in our state\u2019s political leadership. My record in youth mobilisation, political strategy, and grassroots engagement over the years testifies to this unwavering commitment.<\/p>\n
However, politics is not static. It evolves \u2014 often demanding recalibrated alliances and bold decisions. In light of the shifting dynamics leading up to 2027, it is not only timely but strategically wise to align with Senator Yayi and his vision for Ogun State. This political movement is gaining momentum, reminiscent of the historic realignment in 2002, which paved the way for the 2003 electoral victory of Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) as governor. What we are witnessing now bears the same imprint \u2014 a groundswell of support for an individual who embodies capacity, credibility, and a unifying appeal across all senatorial districts.<\/p>\n
Moreover, any politically astute individual would understand that it is only natural and strategic for me to align with the political platform of my brother, leader, and boss, the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako. I have maintained a longstanding, respectful relationship with him for over 20 years, during which he has consistently led and inspired our collective efforts\u2014particularly in advancing the Ogun West Senatorial District project. Our shared history of political struggle makes this not only logical but purposeful.<\/p>\n
For the sake of our political struggle, it is in our best interest to align with respected leaders such as Rt. Hon. Egbetokun Tunji Samson, Hon. Kunle Otun (Kope), Hon. Daddah Rasak, Hon. Hon Abiodun Abudu-Balogun (Action), Ogunpola Akindamilola, Wale Junaid, Fatai Adesegun, Otunba Sanusi Adeniyi, and several other committed comrades. Together, we believe that this collective effort will deliver better results than fragmented, individual pursuits. We are not just building a team; we are building a political family rooted in shared values and a common goal for the development of Ogun State.<\/p>\n
Let me also acknowledge my early roots in grassroots politics. Back in the early 2000s, as a young man with a passion for public service, I was privileged to be among the few committed youths who mobilised voters and championed our political struggle\u2019s success in Ward 07, Oru\/Awa\/Ilaporu in Ijebu North. Our efforts contributed significantly to our party\u2019s victory in the historic 2003 elections. That experience laid the foundation for my political journey and taught me the power of unity, vision, and strategic engagement.<\/p>\n
Today, I carry that same energy and belief into this new chapter. I am confident that aligning with the Yayi team will not only strengthen our collective political force but will also bring about the much-needed transformation for our dear Ogun State.<\/p>\n
This is not just about one man\u2019s ambition. It is about a broader vision \u2014 a new direction \u2014 and I am proud to be part of it.<\/p>\n
