Alhaji Mohammed Abba-Bello<\/a>, son of former National Chairman of PDP<\/a>, Alhaji Bello Mohammed-Haliru<\/a>, has been declared party\u2019s flag-bearer for Birnin federal constituency.<\/a>
The News<\/a> Agency of Nigeria<\/a> reports that Bello defeated the incumbent member representing the area at the House of Representatives, Alhaji Mohammed Bello-Yakubu<\/a>, who defected from All Progressives Congress (APC)<\/a> recently.<\/a>
Declaring the result at Royal Events Centre Birnin-Kebbi<\/a> on Tuesday, the Returning Officer, Alhaji Bello Shehu-Kwasara<\/a> said Abba-Bello scored 64 votes to defeat Bello-Yakubu who got 41 votes.<\/a>
He said 108 delegates were accreditated by the electoral officers led by Alhaji Bello Makama<\/a>.<\/a>
He said: \u201cHaving scored the highest number of votes and as required by the provision of party\u2019s constitution, I\u00a0hereby declare Barrister Muhammed Abba<\/a> Bello as the winner of this election and the flag bearer of our great party, PDP<\/a> for Birnin federal constituency.\u201d
\u00a0Bello-Yakubu lost after defecting from APC<\/a> in March.<\/a>
Bello-Yakubu, fondly known as Rilisco, pitched tent with PDP<\/a> after falling out with the stakeholders of APC<\/a> in the state, a party that he represented as a member, state House of Assembly before moving to House of Representatives.<\/a>
NAN<\/a> also reports that the costest was very keen, leading to a charged atmosphere from both sides.<\/a>
It was, however, conducted peacefully and orderly.
