The Nigeria Police Force on Monday clarified that the deci\u00adsion to withdraw Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel from escort and guard duties stands firm, saying there will be no go\u00ading back on this critical policy change.<\/p>\n
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, in a statement while address\u00ading recent news circulating regarding the possible rever\u00adsal of the PMF reform policy and the decision of Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to withdraw Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel from certain important personalities, said the withdrawal process has already commenced with a comprehensive report, which has been submitted by the con\u00adstituted committee assigned to oversee the seamless imple\u00admentation of this directive.<\/p>\n
He said the IGP has activat\u00aded the mobilisation process for the establishment of the Po\u00adlice Quick Intervention Squad which precedes the withdrawal policy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe decision to withdraw Police Mobile Force personnel from VIP duties is part of on\u00adgoing efforts to optimize the allocation of resources and enhance the efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force in its core mandate of safeguarding the lives and properties of all citi\u00adzens.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile poised to ensure a smooth transition, the Nigeria Police Force is committed to providing adequate security arrangements for VIPs who are entitled to such protection. Meanwhile, the Force will care\u00adfully consider the provisions of Sections 23 to 25 of the Police Act 2020, in recruiting more supernumerary officers, to handle VIP security responsi\u00adbilities. No VIP or critical infra\u00adstructure will be left unprotect\u00aded as a result of the new policy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Inspector-General of Police remains resolute in his pursuit of reforms and initia\u00adtives that will enhance the pro\u00adfessionalism and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force. The decision to withdraw Police Mobile Force personnel from VIPs is driven by the need to create a more robust, efficient, and people-centered police force that caters to the security needs of all citizens equally.<\/p>\n
